Rehabilitation Services


Rehabilitation services at Saint Anthony Hospital cover a wide variety of needs.

A healthy atmosphere and targeted treatment program are our primary focus as we work to return patients to the highest level of function possible.

Physical Therapy

Physical TherapyThe Physical Therapy Department offers a courteous, professional staff with experience and expertise in pulmonary rehab, post-stroke rehab, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, TMJ, sprains and strains, orthopedic injury and post-operative care, back and neck pain, and ergonomics.

Our physical therapists work with all age groups, from newborns to the elderly, who have the following issues:

  • Bad posture
  • Difficulty walking and/or poor balance
  • Post surgery from rotator cuff repair, total knee replacement and arthroscopic surgery
  • Fractures of ankle, foot, leg, knee and hip
  • Back and neck pain
  • Joint and muscle pain due to arthritis, trauma or overuse
  • Wound care
  • Stroke or heart attack
  • Amputation.

A physician referral is required for services.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational TherapyThe Occupational Therapy Department offers programs for many different diagnoses, including stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, orthopedic injuries of the arm and hand, repetitive stress disorders (including carpal tunnel syndrome), postoperative hand therapy, brain injury, and chronic pain management.

Our occupational therapists work with all age groups with the following issues:

  • Difficulty dressing, bathing, feeding, or grooming
  • Work-related injuries
  • Stroke or heart attack
  • Arthritis of the hands and arms
  • Repetitive hand injury
  • Traumatic hand injury, like fractures, crush injury, hand surgery and amputation.

A physician referral is required for services.


AudiologyThe Audiology Department does complete audiologic assessments and treatments as well as hearing aide evaluations and dispensing.

Our audiologists work with patients of all age groups, performing:

  • Hearing tests for adults, children and infants
  • Hearing aid evaluations
  • Hearing aid fittings
  • Hearing aid repairs.

A physician referral is required for services.

Speech Therapy

Speech TherapyThe Speech Department treats speech, language, and voice disorders to help people communicate. Speech therapy includes prevention, identification, evaluation, treatment, education, and rehabilitation of communication disorders.

Our speech language pathologists work with all age groups, from newborn to seniors, who may have the following problems:

Communication/speech and language delays:

  • Expressive language: below average vocabulary development, inability to effectively express wants/needs/preferences using verbal communication
  • Receptive language: difficulty with thinking skills due to stroke, head injury, dementia, or developmental delay. Difficulty with listening, following directions and processing verbal or written language
  • Articulation/phonology: difficulty with the accurate production of speech sounds and/or words
  • Pragmatic language: difficulty with socialization skills and conversation/social language
  • Fluency: difficulty with using fluent speech (stuttering)
  • Voice: difficulty with using appropriate volume and vocal control across settings


  • Difficulty swallowing liquids and/or solid food (and, for example, excessive throat clearing, coughing and choking, )

A physician referral is required for services.
