GUY A. MEDAGLIA
President and Chief Executive Officer

Guy MedagliaGuy A. Medaglia was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Saint Anthony Hospital in July 2010. Prior to his appointment, he was a Managing Director for FTI Healthcare. Mr. Medaglia has an accomplished background in healthcare, including executive management positions for an academic medical center and multiple urban community hospitals. He designed and implemented numerous strategic initiatives around expense improvement, product line evaluation and modification, revenue enhancement, quality improvement, physician relations, and physician contract management.

Prior to FTI, Mr. Medaglia was senior operations executive for Roger Williams Medical Center; vice president and managing director for Li Moran International, Inc.; senior vice president for Montgomery Ward Corp.; vice president for Hook-SupeRX, Inc.; and divisional vice president for Sara Lee Corp. He participated in the financial turnaround of two regional retail chains, managed the $50 million system integration of two merged corporations, and led the acquisition and integration of two retail companies along with the consolidation of two corporate headquarters.

Mr. Medaglia holds a BS in management from Meyer University and an MS in management from Salve Regina University. He also is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives.

 


MICHAEL KITTOE
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Michael KittoeMichael Kittoe is a seasoned health care finance executive who joined the Saint Anthony Hospital executive team in 2016, bringing several decades of experience. As the hospital’s key financial and strategic advisor, he oversees the development and tracking of all financials with a focus on operational excellence and value proposition.

Mr. Kittoe began his health care career as registered respiratory therapist and held several leadership roles in clinical operations before transitioning to financial leadership in 1996. Over the course of his 20 years on the financial side of health care, he has held two CFO positions – Lake Health in Ohio and Delnor Community Health System in Geneva, Illinois, now part of Northwestern Medicine. He has been recognized for sound fiscal and operational management, and strategic partnerships that resulted in enhanced profitability, reduced costs, performance improvement, patient safety and optimized shareholder value.

Mr. Kittoe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Service Management from Ottawa University in Kansas and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

 


JAMES SIFUENTES
Senior Vice President, Mission and Community Development

Jame SifuentesJames Sifuentes joined Saint Anthony Hospital in 2005, having previously served as the Executive Director for the storefront Pilsen YMCA in Chicago. He was instrumental in the planning and building of the Rauner Family YMCA, the first full-service facility for the Pilsen community and its surrounding neighborhoods. At Saint Anthony Mr. Sifuentes oversees government and community relations, our Community Wellness and Senior Wellness Programs, and the Pastoral Care Department.

Mr. Sifuentes has extensive experience in community relations, fundraising, and organizational development. As a leader within the nonprofit community, he has a proven track record of accomplishing major reorganization leading to profitable business models. Mr. Sifuentes holds a BA in psychology from St. Xavier University. He serves on the board of directors of Illinois One Family One Child. He was a 2003 Leadership Greater Chicago fellow.

 


CHRISTINE RAGUSO
Senior Vice President, Professional Services

Christine RagusoChristine Raguso joined Saint Anthony Hospital in 2011. With over 17 years of experience in economic and community development, Ms. Raguso oversees the ancillary functions of the hospital, the creation and implementation of our new clinic model, and the development of a replacement Saint Anthony Hospital on the Focal Point community campus.

Ms. Raguso came to Saint Anthony from the City of Chicago where she held various roles, including Deputy Chief of Staff for Economic and Community Development to Mayor Richard M. Daley as well as Acting Commissioner for the Department of Community Development. At the Department of Community Development she oversaw 187 staff and an annual budget of $355 million. Prior to serving in the Daley Administration, Ms. Raguso was a development coordinator at DLA Piper Chicago, providing comprehensive oversight and analysis of city regulations and coordination and preparation of various zoning and other land use applications for projects. Prior to DLA Piper, she worked as the development manager at Perkins & Will Chicago.

Ms. Raguso holds an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University and a BA in political science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She currently sits on the Greater Grand Crossing/Gary Comer Youth Center Advisory Board.

 


EDEN TAKHSH, MD
Vice President and Chief Quality Officer

Eden Takhsh, MDEden Takhsh, MD, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist in Chicago, joined Saint Anthony Hospital in 2000. Dr. Takhsh leads the organization’s quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, and is committed to ensuring our patients receive the highest quality care.

In addition to his obstetrics practice, Dr. Takhsh has developed an interest in monitoring and measuring the quality of care that Saint Anthony Hospital provides to its patients. He has helped lead our journey to include a comprehensive performance improvement framework in our everyday way of thinking. Under his leadership, Saint Anthony Hospital received the 2015 “Commitment to Excellence” bronze award by the Illinois Performance Excellence. Recipients of this award go to those organizations, which have demonstrated earnest efforts to adopt and apply continuous improvement principles, following the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.

Dr. Takhsh earned his medical doctorate at the University of Edinburgh Medical School in Scotland. While in Scotland, he finished an internship in general medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh. He then moved to Chicago to begin his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Saint Joseph Hospital.

 


ROMEEN LAVANI, MD
Vice President of Business Development and Chairman of Pediatrics and Medical Education

Romeen Lavani, MDRomeen Lavani, MD joined the Saint Anthony Hospital team in 2004. He is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric critical care. In his role, Dr. Lavani oversees pediatrics, our medical staff office, medical education and partnerships with health care institutions across the city. His bedside manner with patients and leadership style make him a role model for many of the students and staff at Saint Anthony.

Prior to Saint Anthony Hospital, Dr. Lavani completed his fellowship in pediatric critical care at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital. After receiving his medical degree in India, he moved to the US where he completed his internship and residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Lavani has received countless accolades for his work and research in the pediatric field, and provides pediatric critical care at the University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital, as well.

 


MARK JENNINGS
Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Mark Jennings

Mark Jennings has been with Saint Anthony Hospital since 2011. During his 30 years in healthcare IT, he has successfully guided organizations through a succession of technologies from mainframes and mini-computers to network client-server computing to thin-client virtual computing and cloud-based solutions. For more than 23 years, Mr. Jennings served as the Chief Information Officer at Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville, Georgia and led the rapid expansion of computerization into their clinical areas. He came to Saint Anthony through McKesson's Outsourcing Division, leading our successful Meaningful Use Stage1 project that included implementing Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), on-line problem lists, and bed-side, bar-coded medication administration as well as facilitating the implementation of an ambulatory physician EMR system across more than 10 clinics.

Mr. Jennings has a BA in computer science and a BA in journalism, both from the University of Missouri.

 


SHERRIE SPENCER
Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer

Sherrie SpencerSherrie Spencer joined Saint Anthony Hospital in 2008 and was appointed Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer in December 2016. With over 17 years of experience in nursing practice and leadership, Ms. Spencer leads the creation of strategic alliances with organizational leaders to effectively align with and support key business initiatives. She maintains a strong reputation for achieving high quality indicator scores within nursing and patient care, including attention to hospital-wide survey readiness.

Prior to her role as Vice President of Patient Care and CNO, Ms. Spencer was the director of acute care and infusion center services, and clinical nurse manager, respectively. She began her career in primary care nursing, then moving into a nurse management position with Advocate Health Center – Southeast.

Ms. Spencer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in adult gerontology nurse practitioner (AGNP) from North Park University Chicago.

 


STELLA WOLF
Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Bernadette O'Shea

Stella Wolf joined the executive team in June 2016 with over 20 years of experience in human resources and organizational development. At Saint Anthony Hospital, she leads the Human Resources team to develop and execute progressive programs that will enhance organizational capabilities and performance levels.

Ms. Wolf relocated from Dallas, Texas before coming to Saint Anthony Hospital where she worked as the Vice President of Human Resources for The Exchange Services at its corporate headquarters. In her role, she provided strategic leadership for an $8 billion global retailer with 28,000 associates serving military members and their families. Prior to her position there, she has held executive positions for V&V Supremo Foods Inc., Applied Systems Inc., McDonald’s Corporation and AT&T.

She is a Chicago native and grew up in one of Saint Anthony Hospital’s neighboring communities, and holds a BA degree in Human Resources from DePaul University and MS in Organization Development from Loyola University Chicago.
