VISITING GUIDELINES

We understand visits from family and friends are a vital part of a patient’s health care. Our goal is to help your friend or loved one recover as soon as possible. You can help by being a considerate visitor. We do request that visitors observe the following guidelines.

The Considerate Visitor

Observes patient visiting hours
Observes the hospital’s “No Smoking” policy
Leaves the patient's room when care is rendered
Respects the privacy of other patients by speaking softly
Leaves children under age 12 at home
Limits the number of visitors to two at one time

Visiting Hours
General visiting hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitors are not allowed in the hospital after 8 p.m. without prior authorization from the nursing staff and hospital security. Visiting hours vary on specialized units. Call (773) 484-1000 to verify your patient's visiting hours.

General Medical / Surgical
11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Obstetrics (Maternity)
10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Intensive Care Units
11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Visits may be limited to 10 minutes each hour.)

Pediatrics
We welcome and encourage one parent to stay with the child at all times. Due to space limitation and the needs of other children on the unit, we ask that only two people visit with the patient at one time as follows:

* Parents — 24-hour-a-day visitation
* Visitors over 16 years of age — 11:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
* Visitors younger than 6 years, including brothers and sisters, please check with your nurse.

Operating Room / Ambulatory Surgery
Adult visitors will receive a pager and will be paged when needed. Visitors may wait in any public area of the hospital.

Emergency Room
Visitors are to wait in the Emergency Waiting Room.

Psychiatry
Wednesdays: 2:00 p.m. to 4;00 p.m.
Weekends: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
All other days / times: No Visiting
Children under 16 are not permitted.
